INGREDIENTS

8 oz Plain Traditional Hummus
1/3 Cup White Miso Paste
1 Lemon
1 tsp Ground Ginger

NEXT LEVEL TIP:

This is a great way to get introduce anyone is weary of Miso, its a strong bold umami flavor that really takes the hummus to the next level, and is vegan friendly. If you are worried about the flavor you can always start with a mild white miso and work you way up. If you are looking for even more of an umami pop try out a rich red miso paste!

 


DIRECTIONS

  1. Turn grill on high.

  2. In a small bowl combine, zest from lemon with, ginger, hummus and miso, mix together. Cover and place in fridge until charred lemon juice is ready to be aded

  3. Cut lemon into 4 rounds,

  4. Place lemons on grill and cook about 4 min each side, just long enough for lemon rounds to begin to char.

  5. Remove from heat and place in bowl, cover tightly with lid, or plastic wrap, and let cool.

  6. Once cool, strain juice from lemons.

  7. Reserve 1 tsp of charred lemon juice and set aside.

  8. Combine remaining charred lemon juice with hummus mixture, and taste for seasoning,

  9. Garnish with the reserved charred lemon juice.


NEXT LEVEL TIP:

Be sure to grab an extra lemon, cutting it in half at a strong angle, and grilling just them will make for a beautiful functional garnish. That way if at any point you feel like you need more lemon, you have charred lemons ready to be squeezed over the top of your hummus or dish!
